Project: Lines & connections – final work

Façade: a superficial appearance or illusion of something.
We see ourselves as singular, individual, ‘one-off’ and exclusive as we project our originality to those around us.
My work concentrates on what links us, rather than our uniqueness. I’m consumed by lines, connections, intersections, and networks.
Many of us live in close intimacy; apartment blocks or house sharing.  Some are in townhouses or semi-detached housing, whilst others reside in freestanding properties or on larger land parcels.  Whatever our circumstances, there are many links that connect us.
My start point for this project came from photos of apartments blocks under construction.  I am especially interested in tradesmen who work with cabling, ducts, pipes and wiring, seemingly connecting strangers – albeit without many of them being aware.
