Recent general sketchbook work

Most of my sketchbook work has been based on the current assignment but I am still making an effort to train my eyes to see tones and shapes and practice this as often as I can.

EI Sk 7EI Sk 8EI Sk 9I tried to trick my brain by dissecting a picture and drawing one section without recognising it as part of the whole.  This helped my tonal work a lot.

EI Sk 10I then went back to portraiture, partly because I like doing eyes.

EI Sk 11And the eyes are pretty good – if you ignore the rest.  On the left is shading using a blending stick, on the right is shading using hatching techniques.
